横浜中華街のシンボル的存在のひとつ。1955年2月、戦後復興の願いを込めて初代が完成し、そのころは「牌楼門」と呼ばれていました。この牌楼が建つまでは「南京町」と呼ばれていましたが、中央の銘板に隣国や隣家と仲良くするという「親仁善隣」という言葉を掲げ、「中華街」と書かれたことによって、正式名称として「中華街」と呼ばれるようになりました。現在の姿にリニューアルしたのは1989年、名称も「善隣門」に改められました。
