NON SOLO NESSIE, MA ANCHE MAGGIE
Nel 1934, l' Observer di Londra riporta l'avvistamento di uno strano e imponente animale con la testa simile a quella di un cavallo che nuota nel Lago Maggiore, all'imbocco del Ticino.
Nel 1963, più o meno nello stesso punto, un gruppo di pescatori avvistò la testa enorme di un animale sconosciuto che emergeva e si inabissava a più riprese.
Storie di pescatori? Sembrerebbe di no, dato che persino il celebre scrittore Stendhal, nella prima metà dell'800, avrebbe menzionato l' avvistamento di un misterioso mostro proprio nella stessa zona.
Nel giugno del 1962, alcuni quotidiani come “la Stampa Sera”, riportano che tra Santa Caterina del Sasso e Laveno, le reti da pesca, una volta ritirate, presentavano vistosi squarci e lacerazioni causate, a detta dei pescatori, dal mostro del lago.
Il ricercatore Maurizio Mosca, nel suo libro “Mostri dei laghi” edito da Mursia, cita la testimonianza di un sub professionista da lui intervistato il quale asserisce che durante una delle sue immersioni incappò in un bulbo oculare di dimensioni impressionanti adagiato su una roccia. Purtroppo, però, il reperto non fu né raccolto né fotografato dal sub,con la conseguenza di non poter essere analizzato.
Nel 2000, alcuni pescatori raccontano di aver visto nell’acqua un’enorme ombra scura… si trattava di un’ombra gigantesca che li stava inseguendo, per poi dissolversi velocemente, senza lasciar traccia!
Nel 2003 i pescatori della zona iniziarono a segnalare la presenza di una creatura gigantesca che si divertiva a distruggere le loro reti e a mangiare tutto il pescato!
Negli stessi anni Maggie è stata avvistata anche da alcuni sub!
C'è chi dice sia lungo addirittura 10 metri e largo 1 metro. Maggie sembra avere un collo lunghissimo e anche un becco… insomma, una specie di animale giurassico di color marroncino, scaglie sul dorso e piccole zampette. Le ultime notizie risalgono a pochi anni fa! Come riporta questo articolo de “La Stampa”, vi è stato un avvistamento il 15 Marzo 2018 quando una donna, che stava osservando il panorama dalla finestra, ha notato nelle acque una chiazza scura, larga una decina di metri. Questa grandissima chiazza si muoveva e si spostava verso Locarno per poi sparire nel giro di 20 minuti! Un branco di pesci che si muoveva in massa? Una chiazza di alghe trascinate dalla corrente? Inquinamento?. Oppure, si trattava dell’ombra di Maggie? Mistero!

Maggie, sentendosi braccata dai ricercatori, in questo momento si trova in Scozia da Nessie, in attesa che la sua nuova dimora italiana sia pronta. Nell'attesa vi dice che la sua vecchia casa (la cache) è sul primo da Laveno, l'ultimo da Luino e che ha lasciato per chi farà l'FTF il suo portachiavi in ricordo.

Some say it is even 10 meters long and 1 meter wide. Maggie seems to have a very long neck and also a beak... in short, a kind of brownish Jurassic animal, scales on the back and small legs. The latest news dates back to a few years ago! As reported in this article from "La Stampa", there was a sighting on March 15, 2018 when a woman, who was observing the view from the window, noticed a dark patch in the water, about ten meters wide. This huge blob moved and moved towards Locarno and then disappeared within 20 minutes! A school of fish moving en masse? A patch of algae dragged by the current? Pollution?. Or, was it Maggie's shadow? Mystery!
