About this cache:  Here you are at the bridge formerly known as the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge. Built as a double-track railroad bridge, it was completed on January 1, 1889. With a total length of 6,767 feet, it was for a short time the longest bridge in the world.  The bridge was taken out of service on May 8, 1974, after it was damaged by fire.  The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and was designated as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2009. But how did it get to be a NY State Park???
