This shopping center used to be a bustling hub of economic activity. It was even the location of the first Fort Wayne German-based discount grocery store, but that was thirty years ago. Now it's mostly empty...
Also about three decades ago there was also a dollar movie theater. At the time I was living at home but all my friends lived on campus. I was on the phone with one of them (and the phone surely had a ten-foot-long coiled cord) and they said that a group of them were going to see Dances With Wolves at the dollar theater. I said I'd meet them there and drove all the way from south of New Haven to this shopping complex. I didn't see them outside so I figured they were already inside. I paid my dollar and entered. The theater was packed! I walked all the way to the front and back again, not seeing any of them. I had already paid my buck so I grabbed a seat and watched the movie alone. I later found out that even though I drove about thirty minutes to get there (vs. their five), I beat them and the movie was sold out by the time they arrived.
