As kids we used to come here to look for Rapunzel in the tower, and now I do the same with my daughter.
This is the entrance to the Old Water Tower at Hunts Park from the Cypress Park side. We go for walks here all the time and then take the old railway track path to Nana's house and The Commons.
“This tower was constructed by Donaghadee Urban District Council around c.1912 and provided the town with its first mains water supply. It remained in use until the 1940s, when it was superseded by Orlock reservoir . . . The top of the tower (just below the tank) has a frieze (or skirt) with open based arched recesses. The tank has a simple parapet, base and conical roof. This tower is important as it is a still intact early example of the use of reinforced concrete”.
The cache itself is our first ever placed cache so my daughter and I are both very excited. It's a nano and you may need a pair of tweezers. This should be a quick cache and grab.
** Many congrats to Sgtzara for gaining your 487th FTF! Your log entry made our day, thank you!**
