Richmond Station
The first public rail line was established in NSW in 1855 when the service opened between Sydney and Parramatta. It was extended to Blacktown in 1860, then Penrith in 1863. The Hawkesbury campaigned from the 1850s for the line to extend to Richmond, but it wasn’t until 1862 that funding was set aside. The Governor of NSW, Sir John Young officially opened the line on 29 November 1864, with festivities continuing all day. The railway was open to the public on 1 December 1864.
During the 1880s, major upgrades were made to most stations on the line, with the present brick platform building at Richmond Station being completed in 1882.

On 8 December 1926, the line was extended to Kurrajong with the line leaving from Platform 1, then going across the corner of Richmond Park and along the side of March Street. This extension closed on 26 July 1952 after a landslide near Kurrajong during heavy rain.

Richmond Railway Station was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. Today, Richmond Station is the terminus for services on the T1 Western and T5 Cumberland lines.
