Von der Laborratte 👩‍🔬 zur Reisemaus 🌏 Traditional Cache

Dieser Cache feiert (Mai 2024) nicht nur das 3-jährige Jubiläum meiner Selbstständigkeit, sondern erzählt auch meine persönliche Reise – von den Laboren des Max-Planck-Instituts bis zu den entlegensten Ecken der Welt.

Ich habe einen ganz klassischen Lebenslauf: Schule, Abitur, Ausbildung zur Biologielaborantin...

Ich verbrachte oft Zeit im nahen Max-Planck-Institut. Meine Mama arbeitet da seit über 30 Jahren und ich ging sie oft nach der Schule besuchen.

Viele Jahre arbeitete ich dann also auch sehr glücklich als Biologielaborantin. Ich liebte die Arbeit... Neues entdecken, Forschung vorantreiben und sogar krebskranken Kindern mittels T-Zellen-Therapie helfen!

Aber es gab Hinweise, dass ich nicht bestimmt war, in einem klassischen, statischen Job zu arbeiten: Ich bin häufiger umgezogen, nicht, weil ich unglücklich war, sondern weil es mich woanders hinzog. Auch innerhalb der Städte, in denen ich lebte, wechselte ich den Job nach spätestens 2 Jahren, weil ich nach neuen Herausforderungen suchte.

Meine Mama sagte dann immer "Das ist nun mal so, es gibt Phasen, da langweilt man sich mal oder ist nicht mehr ganz zufrieden in seinem Job, das hab ich auch..." Und sie arbeitet wie gesagt Zeit ihres Lebens im Max-Planck-Institut und war immer mein Vorbild.

Eine Zeit lang habe ich also auf sie gehört und blieb in dem Job, den ich bis zur Rente machen w(s)ollte....

Heute bin ich froh, dass ich es irgendwann nicht mehr getan habe. Mehr aus "Zufall"*, als aus wirklichem Vorsatz.

Denn mein Wunsch war es schon immer, die Welt zu sehen! Also plante ich eine Weltreise. Doch ich arbeite auch wirklich gerne, also wollte ich etwas haben, was ich nebenbei von unterwegs aus machen kann (denn das Labor kann man ja schlecht mitnehmen 😄), danach aber wieder zurück in mein Labor.

So startete ich vor 3 Jahren in meine Selbstständigkeit!

Die Freiheiten und Möglichkeiten und ja, auch die Verantwortungen, die sich daraus ergeben, möchte ich nie wieder missen!

Ich war einfach nicht dafür gemacht, von 9-5 irgendwo drinnen zu sitzen, sondern s(w)ollte meinem eigenen Rhythmus folgen!

Es war ein Sprung ins Ungewisse, aber auch ein Schritt in die Freiheit. Heute arbeite ich im Bereich Videoschnitt und bin weltweit unterwegs. Die Entscheidung, aus meiner Komfortzone auszubrechen, hat mein Leben verändert.

*Ich sage "Es gibt keine Zufälle, nur unerwartete Wege."

Meine Geschichte zeigt, dass es nie zu spät ist, seinen Träumen zu folgen. Manchmal bedeutet das, gegen die Erwartungen anderer anzukämpfen und den Mut zu haben, neue Wege zu beschreiten. Egal, ob du gerade an einem Scheideweg stehst oder einfach nur ein Abenteuer suchst – lass dich von meiner Geschichte inspirieren. Dein Leben ist eine Reise und jeder Schritt, den du machst, führt dich zu neuen Möglichkeiten.

This cache not only celebrates (May 2024) the 3rd anniversary of may self-employment, but also tells the story of my personal journey - from the laboratories of the Max Planck Institute to the remotest corners of the world.

I have a very classic CV: school, A-levels, training as a biology lab technician...

I often spent time at the nearby Max Planck Institute. My mum has worked there for over 30 years and I often went to visit her after school.

So I was very happy working as a biology lab assistant for many years. I loved the work... Discovering new things, advancing research and even helping children with cancer through T-cell therapy!

But there were indications that I was not destined to work in a traditional, static job: I moved more often, not because I was unhappy, but because I was drawn elsewhere. Even within the cities I lived in, I changed jobs after two years at the latest because I was looking for new challenges.

My mum always said, "That's the way it is, there are times when you get bored or aren't quite happy in your job, it's the same with me..." And as I said, she has worked at the Max Planck Institute all her life and has always been my role model.

So I listened to her for a while and stayed in the job I wanted to do until I retired....

Today I'm glad that I stopped doing it at some point. More out of "coincidence "* than out of real intent.

Because I always wanted to see the world! So I planned a trip around the world. But I also really enjoy working, so I wanted something that I could do while travelling (because it's hard to take the lab with you 😄), but then go back to my lab.

That's how I started my own business 3 years ago!

I would never want to miss out on the freedom and opportunities and yes, even the responsibilities that come with it!

I simply wasn't made to sit inside somewhere from 9-5, I wanted to follow my own rhythm!

It was a leap into the unknown, but also a step towards freedom. Today I work in video editing and travel all over the world. The decision to break out of my comfort zone has changed my life.

*I say "There are no coincidences, only unexpected paths."

My story shows that it's never too late to follow your dreams. Sometimes that means going against the expectations of others and having the courage to break new ground. Whether you're at a crossroads or just looking for an adventure, let my story inspire you. Your life is a journey and every step you take leads you to new possibilities.
