The Belt Line - 67 Drive-In Theater opened on March 11, 1965, located at Belt Line and Highway 67, currently Interstate 30. It was operated by C. D. Leon of Leon Theaters, the former operator of the Garland Road Drive-In, and James McQuad. The drive-in advertised the new theater had 1000 spaces and 1000 speakers. Its slogan was, “You have waited for it- Here it is.” Garlandites could see “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World” and “Beauty and the Body” on opening night.
In 1967, the theater reported that burglars broke into the theater snack bar but the only thing disturbed was that the cigarette machine had been pried open. Even the correct amount of change was left in the cash register. The burglars were able to enter by removing the screen and climbing through an unlocked window.
The Belt Line 67 Drive-In Theater closed in October 1973. The theater was located behind the current-day shopping center at E Interstate 30 and Broadway Boulevard. The remnant of the drive-in can still be seen today on Google Maps.
Here's what the screen may have looked like before they tore it down. That's definitely not what the background would have looked like though:
