この地の歴史は1641年にまで遡ります。当時は萩藩の毛利氏の下屋敷として利用されていました。1871年には廃藩置県により政府の所有となり、1873年から1945年までは陸軍省が赤坂溜池移転まで仮庁舎として使用していました。第二次世界大戦後、GHQが接収し、1960年まで米軍将校の宿舎として利用されました。1962年には陸上自衛隊が移転し、陸幕本部及び防衛庁（現在の防衛省）が置かれました。1986年、防衛庁庁舎建設に伴い、跡地は都市計画決定され、1999年にオフィス、ホテル、ショッピングモール、美術館とそれらを取り囲む多くの緑を備えた複合エリアとして生まれ変わりました。
キャッシュは今の六本木らしいすっきり美しい広場近くに設置しました。ちょうどこの辺りは旧防衛庁の白い建物があったあたりです。新旧の違いを想像しながらお散歩を楽しんでくださいね。

The history of this site dates back to 1641. At that time, it was used as a subordinate residence of the Mori clan of the Hagi domain; in 1871, it became the property of the government due to the abolition of the domain, and from 1873 to 1945, the War Ministry used it as a temporary government building until the relocation of Akasaka Tameike. After World War II, GHQ confiscated the building and used it as a dormitory for U.S. military officers until 1960. 1962, the Ground Self-Defense Force moved to the site, where the headquarters of the Ground Staff Office and the Defense Agency (now the Ministry of Defense) were located. 1986, with the construction of the Defense Agency Building, the site was approved for urban planning, In 1999, the site was transformed into a mixed-use area with offices, a hotel, a shopping mall, an art museum, and a lot of greenery surrounding them.
The cache is located near a beautiful plaza, which is typical of Roppongi today. This is the area where the white building of the former Defense Agency used to be. Please enjoy your walk while imagining the difference between the old and the new.
