Nordnesparken

Nordnesparken is located at the far end of Nordnespynten, adjacent to the Aquarium in Bergen, Nordnes sea bath and Ballastbryggen.

Nordnesparken is beautifully located at the end of Nordnespynten, with a view over the city fjord towards Laksevåg, Sotra, Askøy and north towards Åsane and Nordhordland.

Nordnes sjøbad

Nornes sjøbad an outdoor heated 25-metre saltwater pool which is usually open to the public from mid-May to the end of August. The sea bath is beautifully located at the edge of the park to the west.

The park has two playgrounds for children, one by the sea bath and one by the old college in Nordnes.

Ballastbryggen
Ballastbryggen is not a publicly arranged swimming area. Water quality and water temperature are still measured throughout the season for documentation.

Ballastbryggen is a rehabilitated quay area located adjacent to Nordnesparken, at the far end of Nordnes. The wharf is intended as a recreation site from land, and is not suitable for swimming due to strong currents and heavy boat traffic to the harbour. Ballastbryggen is located at the very end of Nordnesparken, past Totempelen.

There is a small bathing cove connected to the wharf. Swimming from here is only recommended for those who can swim because of the aforementioned dangers.

The quay has been rebuilt from stones from the original ballast quay from the 19th century. The facility is designed with wheelchair access all the way out onto the quay in the form of an attached grating. 6 massive oak benches have been installed on the quay. The quay is stepped down towards the sea both towards Vågen and north towards Byfjorden. Around the quay it is deep, there can be waves and some currents. It is not recommended to swim from the dock.

There is a grid ramp from Nordnesparken out onto Ballastbryggen.

Ballastbryggen is the last remaining ballast quay in Bergen. The stone quay, which was probably built in the 1850-70s, had partially washed out into the sea. The wharf has been restored with the quay's original stones which have now been brought up from the seabed. In addition, it has been supplemented with similar stone that has been taken from the Norwegian Port Authority's quay at Dokken. The starting point for the rehabilitation project was that Bergen municipality, together with the City Antiquities, National Antiquities and Bergen Maritime Museum, wanted to recreate the Ballastbryggen so that it can convey the history of the Ballast Trade to new generations and that the wharf can be preserved for the future.
