Not many people realise that you can walk from Kaiteriteri Motor Camp to the end of Martins Farm Road. It's a really nice, short bush walk with great views of the estuary and out to sea. To access this cache, you can drive to the rear of the motor camp, or if you're worried about getting in people's way, park in Inlet Road and head through to the camping ground via a track opposite the fire station.
A sign on the gate says over the Christmas period the gate is closed from 9pm until 8am. I presume that means the gate is open all the time the rest of the year. You decide if you think I'm right or not. If you're worried you can stroll in from Martins Farm Road at any time.
