To get to Lough Salt, head north of Kilmacrenan and take a 15-minute drive on the winding road. The journey is a spectacle, with the surrounding hills and valleys providing a stunning backdrop. There are two car parks along the route where you can stop and enjoy the views. The first one is in the middle of lake road above Lough Greenan, the most popular tourist spot. The second spot is less known but equally stunning, situated at the end of Lough Salt above Lough Reelan.
Once you reach Lough Salt, you will be greeted by an incredible view spanning Muckish mountain, Doe castle, Sheephaven Bay and River Glen valley. It is the perfect place to watch the sunset, and the colours of the sky blend harmoniously with the scenery, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
The cache is a magnetic container, you will need to BYOP and maybe some tweezers; a hairclip may also suffice.
