The cache is only accessible on foot at low tide. Stick to the harder ground if you want to keep your shoes clean. You are standing on the tidal island of Eilean nan Gamhainn meaning Castle Island in Gaelic. While there was never any castle here there are some wonderful views of Plockton and the loch.

On November the 5th the island is the location of the annual Plockton Village bonfire for bonfire night. The bonfire itself is lit by shooting a rocket from the shore to the island which kicks off a great fireworks display. On occasion which is joined by a show of the northern lights/aurora borealis.
