Willkommen an der Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum. Mit diesem kleinen Multi kannst du das Industriedenkmal und den Westpark erkunden. Aber zuerst möchten wir dir das Denkmal vorstellen.
Die Jahrhunderthalle wird 1902 für die Gewerbe- und Industrieausstellung in Düsseldorf gebaut. Die Ausstellung ist eine der größten Veranstaltungen dieser Art und eine wichtige Leistungsschau der Industrie in Westfalen und im Rheinland.
Die Halle gehört dem Bochumer Verein für Bergbau und Gussstahlfabrikation. Das Unternehmen wird 1851 von Jacob Mayer gegründet. Mayer hat sich schon seit Jahren darum bemüht, die Technik, um Tiegelgussstahl herzustellen, aus England zu kopieren. Gussstahl ist eine besondere Stahlsorte, die etwa für Maschinenbau benötigt wird.
In den nächsten Jahrzehnten erweitert der Bochumer Verein sein Werk um eigene Hochöfen und weitere Stahlwerke. 1903 wird die Jahrhunderthalle aus Düsseldorf nach Bochum verlegt. Da das Werksgelände schon voll ist, lässt der Bochumer Verein die Halle auf bestehende Gebäude setzen. In der Jahrhunderthalle wird das Gichtgas, das beim Hochofenbetrieb anfällt verbrannt, um Energie für das Werk zu erzeugen. 1930 wird das Werksgelände über die Erzbahntrasse an den Rhein-Herne-Kanal angeschlossen, um die Hochöfen mit Erz zu versorgen. Heute ist die Trasse eine beliebte Fahrradstrecke.
Als die Hochöfen 1968, nachdem der alte Rivale Krupp den Bochumer Verein übernommen hat, stillgelegt werden, wird die Jahrhunderthalle als Lager genutzt. Seit 1991 steht sie unter Denkmalschutz und seit 2003 steht sie euch als Veranstaltungshalle offen.
Um den Cache zu finden, suche die 4 Stationen auf und finde heraus, welches Foto zu welchem Ort gehört. Setzt die Zahl auf dem Foto dann in den Buchstaben der jeweiligen Station in die Koordinaten des Final ein.

Welcome to the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum. With this little multi you can explore the industrial monument and the Westpark. But first we would like to introduce you to the monument.
The Jahrhunderthalle is built in 1902 for the trade and industrial exhibition in Düsseldorf. The exhibition is one of the largest events of its kind and an important showcase for industry in Westphalia and the Rhineland.
The hall belongs to the Bochumer Verein für Bergbau und Gussstahlfabrikation. The company is founded in 1851 by Jacob Mayer. Mayer has been trying for years to copy the technology for producing crucible cast steel from England. Cast steel is a special type of steel that is required for mechanical engineering, for example.
Over the next few decades, the Bochumer Verein expands its plant with its own blast furnaces and other steelworks. In 1903, the Jahrhunderthalle is moved from Düsseldorf to Bochum. As the factory site is already full, the Bochumer Verein has the hall built on top of existing buildings. The blast furnace gas produced during blast furnace operation is burned in the Jahrhunderthalle to generate energy for the plant. In 1930, the plant site is connected to the Rhine-Herne Canal via the Erzbahntrasse to supply the blast furnaces with ore. Today, the route is a popular cycling route.
When the blast furnaces are shut down in 1968 after the old rival Krupp took over the Bochumer Verein, the Jahrhunderthalle is used as a warehouse. It is a listed building since 1991 and is open to you as an event hall since 2003.
To find the cache, visit the 4 stages and find out which photo belongs to which location. Then insert the number on the photo into the letter of the respective station in the coordinates of the final.
