THE CACHE IS NOT HIDDEN IN THE NESTING BOX! PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB ANY BIRDS THAT MAY BE USING THE NESTING BOX
You will find many nesting boxes/bird houses in Martin Dies Jr State Park This is very important since the Park is within the Mississippi Flyway and parts of the Central Flyway for migratory bird each Spring and Fall. Nest boxes come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on the species that uses them. The size of the hole in the Nest Box depends of the bird species. A nesting box is usually 3 to 4 feet off the ground and not be blocked by tree limbs so that there is a clear flight pattern to and from the box available for the birds.
Geocache while visiting Martin Dies Junior State Park. A park volunteer (me) hid this geocache as part of an official park class to introduce homeschoolers to Geocaching. The container is small but not too small. Be sure to sign the log with the pen in the cache or your own pen and hopefully you will make a comment on your find on the app or website. Trading is optional. Then return the cache as you found it so that it remains well hidden for the next park visitor.
After finding the cache, if you drive another 1/4 of a mile further into the park You might want to consider using the picnic tables, or visiting the small library and park bird blind which are across the street from the Park Education Center, butterfly garden and public restrooms.
Hope you enjoy your search. Good luck!
