Bird watchers can learn about birds' names, songs, behaviors, and how they interact with the rest of nature. There are even free apps to download to your phone that will identify the bird that you are hearing right that moment.
Find your first (or 1000th) Geocache while exploring Martin Dies Junior State Park. A park volunteer (me) hid this geocache as part of an official park class to introduce homeschoolers to Geocaching. Be sure to sign the log with the pen in the cache or your own pen and hopefully you will make a comment on your find on the app or website. Trading is optional. Then return the cache as you found it so that it remains well hidden for the next park visitor.
You might want to consider visiting the park bird blind when you finish finding the cache or at another time. Not only will you see many different birds you might even spot an alligator in the water. Also enjoy the picnic tables, or visit the small library when you finish finding the cache which are nearby or crossing the street to visit the butterfly garden, education center or public restrooms.
