This cache is located near 119 Kensington Church Street, at the corner of Campden Street, in Notting Hill. The spot has a rich history, with a pub existing here since at least the late nineteenth century. Originally known as the "Church-on-the-Hill," it was renamed after the Second World War.
The building is renowned for its vibrant floral displays and elaborate Christmas decorations. Its exterior features around 100 flower tubs, 42 baskets, and 48 window boxes, making it one of London's most colorful sites.
While the rumour that Winston Churchill made wartime broadcasts from this venue is false, the connection to the Churchill family is not. Churchill's grandparents, the 7th Duke of Marlborough and Lady Frances Anne Emily Vane were patrons of this establishment in the 19th century, providing an excellent family connection to the past.
For some bonus fun, you should also be next to Clementi House, the former London home of Muzio Clementi, the 'Father of the Pianoforte'. It houses one of his company's forte pianos, which is still playable today. Renowned musicians like Chopin, Bellini, and Ignaz Moscheles were frequent visitors.
