Welcome to the former village of Jamestown. Jamestown is the name given to this small settlement, circa 1850, that sprang up along the boundary between Morris and Grey Townships.
Apparently, James' Town derived its name from the number of men in the local community with the name of James - James Aitchison, James Lynn, James Strachan, James Simpson, James Forrest and James Moses. Because of all the James' living locally, James Aitchison, a reporter from Goderich, referred to the junction as James' Town. The name changed to Jamestown through the years.
I spent a lot of time around Jamestown when I was in highschool, and thought it would be a good place to put a geocashe. Take time to read the historic plaque that has been placed where the general store used to be.
This is a grab and go, there is a large area to park on the side of the road. Medium sized cashe with lots of goodies when placed. This geocashe may be unavailible in the winter time depending on snow amounts.
