Some geocachers are visiting our area on June 22, so I said I would host an event for them today! If only I could remember who is visiting...
Smitty's Restaurant (lounge), Spruce Grove, 830am-1000am. Children welcome until 9:50am. Anyone under 18 must be gone by 951am.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and if you want to participate in the gift exchange, you will need to follow the guidelines below.
Please log WILL-ATTENDS by June 15 so Smitty's can plan to staff us appropriately. If you log after, we'll still let you come but we'll make you sit on the floor. Just kidding. But please still log it.
Gift exchange will take place somewhere between 9:00 and 9:30.
The Not-Christmas gift exchange guidelines:
1) If you want to get a gift, you must bring a gift. Cachers and muggles alike may participate in the exchange.
2) Prior to coming to the event, you must hide a gift within 5km of the event The gift can be whatever you like, such gift cards, unactivated geocoins, trackable items, swag items, geocaches, cookies, gift cards, books... Please use your judgement in selecting your gift items remembering that children may participate as well. Place your gift items in an inexpensive cache container (ie tupperware, lock n lock, Christmas tin, etc.) and hide it to be found later that day. Since your container will be found later the same day, you may include food or scented items, which are normally absolutely forbiddenin geocaches. Don't forget to write down a waypoint (coordinates/place) where you hid the gift.
3) Gift value: $15-$20.
4) Bring your waypoint (coordinates) to the event. This can be written on a card, box, small geocache, or anything that can hold the coordinates of your gift cache, and feel free to add whatever description of your gift, if any, such as saying it's swag, geocaches, not-geocache related, etc. This information is optional. In addition, it would be a good idea to include your geocaching name and cell phone number in case your recipient needs assistance. Your cache can be a puzzle, multi-stage, or whatever adventure cache you want to make. As all levels of geocachers are participating, please don't make it too difficult.
5) At the event, these "containers" will be exchanged in the traditional fashion of drawing numbers, selecting gifts, and stealing the gifts from one another.
6) After the Micro Container Exchange and breakfast, go find your gift, and this time you get to take the whole stash!
7) When you log the event as attended, please thank the giver for the gift if you also participated in the exchange. You may share what your gift cache contained if you like and feel free to post pictures, even a picture of the hiding spot.
