Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Monuments & Multis Series — M&M Series
.
The Island has numerous small monuments & plaques commemorating oft forgotten people, places & events that played a role in the history of the Island. Most such commemorative reminders, if noticed at all, are usually driven by without stopping or reading. This series hopes to highlight the Island’s past through a number of quick, 2-stage multi caches that require visiting & reading such plaques.

This structure, built 18AA-18BB, was designed under the direction of Thomas Fuller who served as Chief Architect of the Department of Public Works from 18CC to 18DD. This basic design with a double entrance, steep roof, high central gable, medieval detail and colourful blend of brick and stone, was adapted to many small post offices across the country. Each was unique but they shared a strong family resemblance that came to symbolize the federal presence throughout Canada. The Summerside Post Office shows the high quality of design maintained under Fuller's tenure.
