Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has enabled geocachers to beautify and restore natural and urban spaces. In that time, there have been more than 536,000 logged attendances at nearly 29,000 events where geocachers helped improve the outdoors.
Actions often speak louder than words. By participating in a CITO Event, whether by collecting trash, planting trees, or crafting new homes for pollinators, we make our world a better place. Each CITO we attend is a testament to care: care for others, our communities, and our planet.
CITO Events can be a safe, socially distant way to gather that adheres to your local laws and health guidance for outdoor activities. As with all outdoor activities, please follow the most current regulations from public health authorities.

Where: Belfast Harbour
When: 08:30-09:30, Saturday 29th June 2024
Why: To make the Earth a little bit better looking🌍 and to help the animals that visit the harbour🐟🦆
Your Task: Collect as much litter as you can!
What to bring: Warm and waterproof clothing, strong footwear, thick gloves (optional), water and a litter pick (if you have one)
I have walked and cycled along this route a few times between the posted coords and Kinnegar, and the smount of litter that can gather up always shocks me. Maybe it's careless dog owners or maybe it's blown off from the water; but whoevers fault it is, litter can gather along this path in mass and is always unsightly.
Just because it's no longer a CITO season doesn't mean we can't help out the planet a wee bit! Lots of litter can gather in the rocks between the carpark and the shore but are often hidden depending on which angle you're looking at. A sweep of the path was tackled in February so maybe this time we can focus on the carpark and shore area?
Loose stones, muddy paths, untrimmed vegetation and large boulders warrant this CITO an averaged T3.0 rating.
Best wishes, warmest regards.
