The Texas Two Step - County Challenge Kick Off!
Heart of Texas Roadside Park
August 17, 2024 (8am - 9am)
The Texas Two Step Challenge is probably one of the most difficult and anticipated challenges in the history of geocaching. After several years of hard-work and dedication from the Beta Team the caches are all in place and the first 10 cachers have completed the requirements to log the Texas Two Step Cache - so, it is now time to publish!
To celebrate the initiation of this epic Challenge we are going to have a Texas Two Step - County Challenge Kick Off event. The Where and When of this event have some unique significance:
- Where - Heart of Texas Roadside Park. Since 1963, people in-the-know have stopped at this park on the east side of 377 between Brady and Brownwood TX to visit the "Geographic Center of Texas". This park will also be the location of final for the Texas County Two Step Challenge.
- When - August 17th - Ever since the 2011 Geocaching Block Party, geocachers worldwide come together for a day of celebration and smileys on the third Saturday of each August. So, come one out and celebrate in a uniquely Texas way and earn a souvenir.
We have a whole day of geocaching activities planned in celebration:
- 8am - 9am - Texas Two Step Challenge Event - Recognize the finishers, take pictures, and recognize the Beta Team
- 9am - ??? - Heart of Texas GeoArt Tour - There are a number of existing and new caches for your caching plasure in the area.
- A series of 80 caches in the shape of a heart
- A new virtual cache will publish in the park
- There are also other caches to find near and around the park
- 1pm - Texas Two Step Lunch Event - we will meet at a local establishment in Brownwood (specific location TBD) to celebrate the day, share stories and cool off after what will probably be a typical hot August day in Texas.
Before and After the Event - plan your route to the event and home to pickup new counties for the original Texas County Challenge or the Texas Two Step County Challenge!
Make your plans now and join us for some Texas Geocaching fun!
