Welcome to Frog's Hollow
From the 1860s this area was known as Frog's Hollow and was a swampy district bordering industry, boarding houses and places for "shorter stays" . In the decades that followed the use of the area expanded following the establishment of the nearby Port Office and associated warehouses.
In the 1890s an unnamed laneway was formed and joined the Port Office to the Wool Store, and in 1900 Mr. Leonard Spencer established his ironmongery business here which remained a mainstay of the area for decades, supplying parts for coaches and buggies and then moving into the fledgling motor car industry. Either side of this laneway a variety of small businesses sprung up to enjoy the passing traffic, and eventually this area merged into the greater Brisbane CBD.
In 2010 the little unnamed laneway was officially titled "Spencer's Laneway". At the time it was home to a popular pub and eating house which has since 'temporarily' closed. Other businesses still operate here and a popular coffee shop serves customers weekday mornings at the entrance corner.
It now also houses a geocache - aligned to but not part of the Vibrant Laneway series. (presently no art is featured here).
Please no travel bugs, geocoins, swaps, stickers, anything in the container.
Please conceal the container back to not attract any attention from bypassers.
Satellite reception is poor at GZ. The hint contains details on how to find the cache due to that.
