Rudgwick Brickworks Ring
Rudgwick Brickworks Ring is a loop of about 3 miles on footpaths surrounding the site of the old Rudgwick Brickworks. There are 15 caches around the loop, of which the majority are 60ml pots, with a few sneaky hides thrown in for good measure.

Since the Brickworks closed in 2013, the site and attached land was purchased by a family of local farmers – the Harrisons, with a view to increasing the grazing land for their Woodsomes dairy herd. The brickworks buildings have been turned into a group of light industrial and commercial units, including a craft brewery and the offices have been transformed into a café, specialising in Harrisons’ “Sussex Charmer” cheese. The brickworks pit was filled, over a 5 year period, with inert waste and has been restored to agricultural use. A rare example of brownfield returning to greenfield.
The loop has stretches which remain muddy for most of the year and includes a length of cow track which may be covered in manure so stout / waterproof footwear is advised.
It is suggested that you tackle the series in a clockwise direction, starting from near the brickworks site on Lynwick Street. There is room to park between the brickworks and the bridge over Downslink. Please do not obstruct either of the farm entrances by the bridge.
RBR 01 – The Piggery
In the 1950s and 60s, the Harrisons ran a small herd of pigs and the building ahead on the right was their piggery. It is now used for storage.
Congratulations to sheep! on FTF.
