UNDER THE SEA
This is one of 66 geocaches that have been placed for the 2024 West Bend $1,000 Cache Ba$h, with this year’s theme being Around the Wold in 66 Caches. You’re looking for a size "other" placed in the woods in West Bend's Villa Park. Take the trail north and then go about 20 feet off trail to the cache. Leashed dogs allowed. Street parking is available on Squire Lane at N43 26.137 W88 13.780. There is not a stamp in this cache for the Cache Ba$h event - you'll need to get the code word from the log sheet.
It seems like "Under the Sea" is an appropriate theme for this cache, since 71% of the earth is covered by the ocean. It contains 97% of the world's water, and has been essential for getting from here to there all around the world. Historically, there are four named oceans: the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Arctic. However, most countries - including the United States - now recognize the Southern (Antarctic) as the fifth ocean.
Surprisingly, the vast majority of life on Earth is below water. A surprising 94% of all species are aquatic, including fish, lobsters, dolphins, jellyfish, sharks, sea turtles, starfish, crabs, octopus, whales, seahorses, squid, swordfish, shrimp, otters, oysters, and many others.
THE PARK
Villa Park has trails that wind through both prairie and wooded areas. The park’s facilities include a play structure including swings, picnic areas, a GaGa Ball pit, softball field, soccer field, and open playfield areas. A seating overlook provides a scenic view of the area. We hope you enjoy your walk in the park!
