Geocache Description:

Catostomus commersonii.  I'm intentionally not using its more common name, White Sucker.  I do like my geocaches to free of any coarseness, and the term.....well.  Back in the early days of Wisconsin most of the European population was down in the southwest corner.  Starting in the 1820's miners came streaming into the Lead Mining region.  Some decided to winter over, modifying their crude pit mines into shelters.  They, and all of us Wisconsinites ever since, were known as Badgers.  Other men were made of less stern stuff.  These guys, mostly from Illinois, ran up the river in the spring and back down in the fall.  They were known as Suckers, as their migrations mirrored those of this charming, dopey faced fish.  Of course we no longer call our Illinois neighbors that.  I understand there are several less complimentary terms......

This should be a fairly easy find.  Park down the road a bit as the actual cache site is on the bridge.  Please exercize care, even with the minimal traffic in this spot you'll want to keep an eye on cars.  Replace cache carefully please, and if there is any damage to it I've included some spare parts.  Its a challenge keeping an eye on all these Strange Fish!
