X Marks the Spot II
Ok, Ok, I realize this is yet another placement that is a little early for a pirate themed cache, since International Talk Like a Pirate Day isn’t until September 19th, but life, and hiding / finding caches does go on… I really couldn’t pass this one up, and now, you won’t want to pass this one up either, as it is essentially a companion cache to the first one!
To locate the Final stage of the cache, you will first need to observe, while standing at the given coordinates, a two-digit number. You will use this for your North and West offsets.
NORTH OFFSET:
Add the two digits together to form a New Number. Your North Offset is that new number minus 10.
Or to put it another way:
Digit 1 + Digit 2 = New Number.
New Number - 10 = North Offset.
NORTH FINAL: ADD the North Offset to the decimal minutes (.xxx) of the North Given coordinates to obtain your North Final Coordinates.
WEST OFFSET:
Remember that New Number from the North Offset computation? Subtract 8 from it to obtain your West Offset.
Or to put it another way:
(Digit 1 + Digit 2) = New Number.
New Number - 8 = West Offset.
This is your West Offset
WEST FINAL: SUBTRACT the West Offset from the decimal minutes (.xxx) of the West Given coordinates to obtain your West Final Coordinates
