Geocache Description:

06 July 2024, 09:00 - 09:30

Greetings, a small group of us are coming from Ontario, Canada and New York to paddle in Michigan for the weekend.    Today we will be tackling the St. Joseph's River from Mottville, Michigan to Bristol, Indiana.

This event is a standard meet and greet, hopefully we will have staged vehicles already.   You don't have to kayak or go down the river to attend the event.

We would love to have more paddlers join us and if you do plan to paddle, please indiate in your "will attend" that you are paddling.  As well, if you are paddling, come early to stage vehicles as we will be starting the paddle promptly at 9:35.

Details below:

Staging: 8:30 - 9:00 a.m

Kayak staging between locations is 7 miles. 10 minute drive. You should expect around 8 miles of paddling.

State Rules and Regulations:
Michigan law does not require a license to operate a paddle-propelled kayak, nor do you need to register your vessel, but you do need a U.S. Coast Guard-approved PFD.

Indiana law requires all watercraft to carry one wearable PFD (personal flotation device) for each person on board. License Requirements – If propulsion is solely achieved through human effort, registration is not required.
