Welcome to the quiet town of Hoonah.

Primarily a fishing village, but now famous for the icy straight point visitor area to cater to the cruising crowd. You are seeking a fake rock about 2-3' high near some decoration.

The land owner knows about the geocache being here and are more than happy for you to come and find it. You don't need to interact with them to find the geocache, but you are welcome to speak with them if you would like to. They are the primary person doing maintenance on this letterbox.

Letterboxing

This is a letterbox hybrid geocache. That means that there is a rubber stamp inside the geocache and it needs to stay there; it's not a trade item. You can sign the log in pen/pencil like normal if you want, but with letterboxes you have the option to bring an ink pad and a rubber stamp of your own to mark your stamp in the geocache logbook and to mark the letterbox stamp in your own personal logbook of stamps. It stems from the practice of letterboxing from shortly after the Regency era, traced to Dartmoor,and Devon in England in 1854. People would carve their own personal rubber stamp that represented them and then visit friend's stately homes, follow clues, and try to locate their friend's stamp so they could exchange marking the stamp images on each other's logbooks.
