This two-stage multi geocache is part of the SideTracked series that is popular in the UK and throughout the world. It is designed to be a relatively quick cache find around train stations for travellers but, of course, anyone else can find it too! There's a small pencil included but it's always good to bring your own writing implement to sign the log.

Galston Valley Railway

Galston Valley Railway is a model engineering club and is a non-profit organisation run 100% by volunteers. They have an extensive 5" gauge miniature railway, with a main-line length about 1km, running through a delightful natural bush setting. They also have a large G1 layout which is being developed with scale buildings and which is a 'must see' when you visit.

Galston Valley Railway operate public running days once a month on the 2nd Sunday of each month. On these days, visitors can enjoy rides around the track on carriages hauled by magnificent working models of steam engines and electric diesel engines. There are costs involved so make sure you check out their website for details and the conditions of entry including safety requirements.
A day out at the Galston Valley Railway is great fun for little kids and big kids alike.

To find this cache......
1. Go to the main entrance. There's no need to enter the property. Look for the three capital letters on the big round black boiler cover. Now find the two capital letters and a two-digit number on the black signal light structure to the right of the boiler cover.
2. Using the code A=1, B=2, C=3..... Z=26, work out the value of each letter then add the five letter values together. To this total, add the two-digit number. We'll call this total "Steam".
3. Work out the following to give a set of coordinates in the northern hemisphere:
North (Steam - 89)° (Steam -110).(Steam+492)
East (Steam-133)° (Steam-83).(Steam+204)
4. Enter those northern hemisphere coordinates into the checker below and if correct, you'll be taken to an incredible mini world. You'll then receive the coordinates and a hint for the cache that will be a little closer to home.
