On September 24, 1963, President John F. Kennedy visited Grey Towers in Milford, Pennsylvania. During his 70-minute visit, he dedicated the site as a histroic landmark and the home of the Pinchot Institue for Conservation. Grey Towers was the ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot, a two-term Pennsylvania governor and the first chief of the U.S. Forest Service. The event was marked by anticipation and pride, as thousands of people gathered to witness this historic moment. Kennedy's presence left a lasting impression on those fortunate to be in the presence of a U.S. president.

To commemorate his visit, this plaque was erected in a small corner of town. When you visit, salute the flag.
