July is National Ice Cream Month
This means it is your civic duty to consume a scoop or two of the delicious treat daily. This fun tradition and “cool” Holiday can be credited to Proclamation 5219 in honor of the "nutritious and wholesome food". On July 9, 1984, former US President Ronald Reagan signed this proclamation, which urges citizens to observe the entire month with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
As the summer reaches peak temperatures in July, Americans celebrate National Ice Cream Month as a way to cool off and enjoy the nation’s favorite frozen treat with friends and family.
COOL facts about Ice Cream
Ever get a brain freeze from eating ice cream? The top of the mouth has lots of nerves. When cold ice cream comes into contact with these nerves, it causes blood vessels in the brain to dilate, giving the short headache also known as an ice cream headache.
