The cache is at the end of the Gill Point postbox walk. This postbox walk could not be used after the airport construction commenced in 2013 since Dry Gut was filled to allow the runway to have sufficient length. The filling of Dry Gut took 18 months of 24/7 working and the airport construction was completed in 2017. In June 2024 a small team spent 3 weeks creating a new trail that joins the former trail which was also upgraded for the descent to the ocean.
The walk is about 8km there and back, and is the only postbox walk on island with a descent down a gorge with the assistance of a new rope so not for those who suffer with heights.
The cache is located above an undersea tunnel that channels the sea water into a large blowhole.
Don't forget to search for the St Helena Airport cache which is close to the trail-head.
