The GIFF is back at the Wieting! This 2025 GIFF at the Wieting is also a Community Celebration Event, and more! The Wieting no longer shows movies on Saturdays, but we will make an exception for Saturday, November 15, 2025!
In addition, we are bringing back the tradition of serving a fundraising free-will donation meal before the film, another food opportunity after the films, AND this year we plan to have The Basement Band perform on-stage at the Wieting shortly after the films wrap-up. So plan to make it a grand day (or at least a BIG afternoon) in Toledo. Come for the food, stay for the show, more food, then find some geocaches (there might be some new ones if I can get Iowa.Landmark to publish them) while we change the stage, and return for The Basement Band!
If I can pull it off, this event will also include a film that The NVG recently created, and there might be one or two BIG "25" opportunities on the BIG screen in case you still need to log your 25th anniversary locationless cache, like I do.
WHAT IS THE GEOCACHING INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (GIFF)?
Part 1: Film submission & judging
Geocachers around the world--like you--create short films about geocaching and submit them to Geocaching HQ for judging. During the month of August, the films are reviewed by judges from Geocaching HQ. In September, finalist films are announced and the filmmakers are notified.
Part 2: Finalist films shown at Geocaching Events
After announcing the finalists, Geocaching HQ creates a film reel with the finalist films. Any geocacher can host a geocaching Event to show the finalist films during the official Film Festival, and of course YOU can attend one (or more) of these events.
In a recent GIFF year over 16,000 geocachers attended 425 Events hosted across 40 countries!

The full itinerary includes...
Noon - 2 PM → A free-will donation luncheon served in the community room adjacent to the theatre.
2-4 PM → The GIFF films (and more) on the BIG screen at the Wieting.
4-6 PM → Head home (safely), go geocaching (now that you know what that is), OR stay for more great food while we prep the stage for...
6-8 PM → The Basement Band, bringing great live music to the Wieting!
