Presidio Picnic 11
Presidio Park
Tues. August 19, 2025
11:30am - 1:30pm
Although oesteado has left for Oklahoma, the tradition continues! Escape the inland heat and come on down to Old Town for lunch with geo-friends. And let's also celebrate 25-years of Geocaching with this Community Celebration Event!!
We'll meet at the tables under the pine trees. Bring your own food -- a sack lunch, take-out, something to share(?), whatever you like. Or just come to socialize. We can trade TBs and talk story. Since this will be a Community Celebration Event, the duration will be 2-hours, but feel free to just stop by briefly or stay as long as you want.
GZ is a pleasant location with picnic tables, ample shade, and a good-sized, gently-sloping grass area suitable for soccer, bocce ball, frisbee, or croquet (bring your own toys). Great for kids and dogs (on a leash). There are various other caches in the vicinity for your searching and finding amusement.
Parking available on-street nearby (Cosoy Way) or at the Presidio itself.

25 Years of Geocaching! (Click Here for the History of Geocaching)
On May 2, 2000, at approximately midnight Eastern Savings Time, the great blue switch controlling Selective Availability was flipped. Twenty-four satellites around the globe processed new commands, and instantly, the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. Tens of thousands of GPS receivers worldwide received an instant upgrade. Geocaching was born, and the rest is history! Click this link for more details.
