Happy Birthday to The Travel Bug! Community Celebration Event

jcar: It looks like all trackables have now been retrieved.

I just want to thank everyone for attending. It was great meeting several new cachers and seeing the excitement to send out some new trackables into the world by others. Some unfortunately will go missing way too soon, but the the rest I wish a long and successful journey!

I enjoyed hearing about favorite caches during introductions, several which I've done and are familiar with. One of my favorite caches is Path of the Watchers by EraSeek - https://coord.info/GCMEB9, long ago archived. I think a testament of how good it was is that it was archived years before favorite points came out but still managed to garner quite a few.

Again thank you all for attending! We will have to do this again in 5 years for the 29th anniversary of the travel bug!

Geocache Description:


While this may be the 25th Anniversary of Geocaching there is also another important date in the history of Geocaching. 24 years ago on this day the first trackable was released - this CCE will celebrate this date and all things trackable! Maybe we will have the opportunity to do this again next year.

Everyone attending will receive an unactivated trackable, there will be stations that will allow you to select an attachment (hitchhiker) get it attached, and laptop(s) to activate your trackable under your account. While you may hang on to the trackable and release it in a cache or event locally, there will be a black box available and if you drop you trackable there it will randomly appear somewhere around the United States, but not the PNW.
