FLOCK TO THE ZOO: Feathered friends
Our feathered friends have difficulties that they must adapt to to survive. Many of them are on the watch list as they are having difficulties making that adaptation. A few of them are highlighted through the various caches presented in this years offering.
Save the date! A new set of caches for the Assiniboine Park Zoo will be released with “Flock To The Zoo: Feathered Friends” on Saturday, September 27, 2025. This event’s format will be much different than in the past.

We plan to publish the caches after zoo closing on Friday, September 26, to allow folks to load their GPS units should they wish.
The caches will be available starting at 9:00am with the opening of the zoo for all of you FTF fanatics, and the event log will be near the entrance gate outside the zoo. Watch for a member of the Board standing with the log book. The event log book will be available until 10:45 am. People can arrive early in the morning, check out the activity table, qualify for prizes with the spot the animals activity, grab some new caches, and enjoy lunch at the Tundra Grill, or a picnic at one of the many tables placed around the zoo.
Prizes will be drawn for at 15:00 (3pm). Please note that with the looming postal strike we cannot be responsible for the possibility of delivery if a prize needs to be shipped. The zoo closes at 4:00pm.
Please note that the only activity that is an actual part of the event is the signing of the log book.
A huge Thank You goes out to the Goecachers who donated gadget caches that will coincide with this event. Watch for their names when we post the caches.
For our newbies, the Manitoba Geocaching Association is offering a "Learn How To Geocache" workshop at the Zoo's Education Centre in Room A. Receive an introduction into the world of Geocaching and learn how to use your own phone to discover these hidden adventures. Once you are ready, see if you can find the new caches hidden throughout the Zoo. The workshop starts at 10am and the Zoo's Education Centre is the grey building located next to the barn in Aunt Sally's Farm.
Admission, or membership, to the Assiniboine Park Zoo is required to participate in these activities.
Please visit: http://www.assiniboinepark.ca/zoo for regular admission rates. Tickets purchased online are valid for one-time use within 90 days of date of purchase and are non-refundable.
An announcement will be posted on Thursday, September 25 if there are any last minute updates... stay tuned!
Please note: All current traditional zoo caches will be available until closing on Saturday, September 6, 2024.
