Camp MiGO 2025: The BIG House! CCE Community Celebration Event

This cache has been archived.

Merlin1392: A great experience in the largest stadium in the USA. It seemed that everyone enjoyed the tour, but maybe not the walk. A little farther than I expected, sorry. Thanks to all that attended and enjoyed. Even those from the state to the south! Go Blue!

Geocache Description:

They simply call it "The Big House", aka Univeristy of Michigan Football Stadium!

On October 1, 1927, Michigan football played its first game in the new stadium, defeating Ohio Wesleyan by a score of 33–0. On October 22 Michigan Stadium was dedicated before the Wolverines’ game against bitter rival Ohio State University, which the home team won, 21–0. The game was sold out, setting a record for attendance.  The official capacity is 107,601, but it has hosted crowds in excess of 115,000!  Since 1975, no event hosted at Michigan Stadium has drawn less than 100,000 fans!

Each Big House Tour takes you behind the scenes of the largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere. During your tour, you will get a chance to explore the recently renovated Michigan locker room, visit the Jack Roth Stadium Club, and run (or walk) down the tunnel onto the field, where you can play catch, kick a field goal, and take your picture on the 50-yard line.  You are welcome to bring a football.

Two tours have been reserved, but we can add a third, if necessary.  Tours are 9:00am, and 10:30am.  The tour lasts about 1-hour, and will be limited to 75 persons per session.  Along with your "Will Attend", please go to the Camp MiGO 2025 Registration page to reserve your space and ticket.   There is a nominal fee to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Advance registration and payment is required, and non-refundable.  Register here!

We will gather at the nearby Pioneer High School parking area.  There will be a "check-in area" for tour participants, (please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour) and then we will walk over to the Stadium for the tour.    Please let us know in your "Will Attend" if you cannot make the walk.  Limited Handicap parking is available at the Stadium.  This is a wheelchair accessible event.  You may, "tailgate" at the event site while participants are waiting for their tour to begin, or others are in the process on completing their tour.  It can be very warm in Michigan in July & August.  It is suggested that tailgaters be prepared with seating, and plenty of hydration supplies.  Food is not allowed on the tour, and water in a sealable container is allowed, except on the field.
