Marking 25 Years of Geocaching
PLUS 18 Years of SideTracked Events and
200 Years of the Railways
Taking place at CUPS & CARRIAGES TEA ROOM at Whitehead Railway Museum

10:15 am – 12:15 pm
THE VENUE for this Community Celebration Event, Cups & Carriages Tea Room, is a short walk from Whitehead Railway Station, if you decide to come by train. But, if coming by car, parking is available on Castleview Road, beyond the playground and close to the Youth Centre (see Waypoint details below). The entrance to the Museum is past the Youth Centre, through the gap and on the left.
Whitehead Railway Museum is on the site of Whitehead Excursion Platform, which was built by Belfast and Northern Counties Railway (BNCR) and opened on 10th July 1907. BNCR developed Whitehead as a tourist destination and ran many cheap day excursions to the town. The Excursion Platform was built to accommodate the crowds.
There is no charge to enter the Tea Room and no obligation to buy any food or drink.
Attendees, who may be interested, can sign-up for a GUIDED TOUR of the Railway Museum AFTER THIS EVENT, which will be conducted by volunteer guide and fellow-geocacher, MrsBreezee. Please indicate in your WILL ATTEND log if you would like to take the tour, which lasts about an hour and a half and costs £9 per head.
In a year, when we continue to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the First Railway, hopefully, there will be a good attendance for this 2025 Community Celebration Event at what is both a UNIQUE and HISTORIC railway-related venue in this part of our island home!
As the event host, it’s a no-brainer for me to travel by TRAIN to WHITEHEAD from the nearest station to my home, MARINO, as it’s the easiest, and importantly, a climate-friendly way for me to get to this event!
By attending this CCE, which is also an official SideTracked Event, you will be able to add to your geocaching.com profile page a unique 'SideTracked' Attendance badge for this particular event. How you can do this will be posted once the event has taken place.
