Welcome to GMT!'s 2025 Community Celebration Event (CCE)!
I hosted my first ever CCE in 2022 and for the "theme", I chose a scavenger hunt. A lot of people enjoyed that, so I decided to do that again! And since we did Larrytown (Lawrenceville for you stuffy types) before, I decided to move it to Winder this year!
The scavenger hunt will be a "virtual" hunt and will require walking through downtown Winder looking for various items. You will either take photos 📷 or answer questions 📋. You can either work individually, or for maximum fun, get a group 🧑🤝🧑together and explore Winder!
We will meet at the Plaza. There is a good amount of parking adjacent, and plenty of nearby street parking if needed. The event is rain 🌧️ or shine ☀️, so be sure to dress appropriately! Good walking shoes 👟are a must!
The good news is this will be a T1 event, so everyone will be able to participate. However, if you want to find all of the items on the sheet, you may be walking for a while!
In addition to the scavenger hunt, I will have some light snacks, Winder trivia, and a celebration of birthdays 🥳🎂! Whose birthday? I don't know, but someone is going to be celebrating a birthday on this day, I'm sure!!

9:00 - 9:15: General mingling, sharing of caching stories, congratulations and admirations for anyone that may have completed insane and amazing caching goals
9:15 - 9:30: Explaining the hunt!
9:30 - 10:55: The hunt!! Return to the event coordinates when done to rack up your prize entries!
10:55 - 11:10: Final tally of prize entries
11:10 - 11:30: Prize give away and general celebration!
Scavenger Hunt Overview
This will be explained in more detail, but your task will be to "find" 24 things that I have identified in the area. Note that all of the items can be seen from the street/public areas-- you do not need to go inside any buildings.
The items to find will be divided into four different categories:
Group 1: QR Codes: There will be 6 QR codes hidden around that you can find. When you find one, you can scan it and get the code word! 2 of the QR codes can be found on name badges of attendees at the event. The other 4 are hidden near the event site on magnets. The 4 magnets can be found without crossing a street (Hint!). Also, on the scavenger hunt sheet, they are referred to as "QR 1 (Green)" or "QR 3 (Black)". The color will be an indicator of the color of the object they are hidden on. Note that all magnets can be easily seen when viewed at the correct angle and nothing needs to be moved to see them. I will have a sample I will show you during the instruction.
When you are finished, you will have 6 words. Enter the FIRST TWO letters of each word into the checker below (You will enter 12 letters in total). This will confirm you have the correct answer, potentially give you some bragging rights, and will allow me to monitor progress along the way! (Saving time at the final check in).

Group 2: Answer the Questions: As you journey through Winder, you will have some questions to answer based on what you see! Answers can be anywhere! Up high, down low, on signs, murals, anywhere!
When you are finished, you will have 6 words. Enter the FIRST TWO letters of each word into the checker below (You will enter 12 letters in total). This will confirm you have the correct answers, potentially give you some bragging rights, and will allow me to monitor progress along the way! (Saving time at the final check in).

Group 3: Find the Pictures: You will see 6 pictures loaded into the gallery and available through the Google photo album found here. There is also a QR code link to the album on yoru worksheet. As you walk around, find the picture and answer the corresponding question (the photos all have a number on them). Note that pictures may be turned, flipped, or changed up slightly to make the hunt a little more challenging!

Group 4: Take Your Own Pictures: You will need to keep an eye out for 6 things you need to take a picture of in your journey. Note that your face or something with your geonick must be present in the picture! I have created a shared album where you can upload your pictures as you acquire them so you do not have to wait until the end to do so. Note that you may be prompted to download the Google Photos app. You can do this if you want, but photos can be uploaded without the app. Please leave a comment with your geonick so I can match it up to your record. Note I may post some of the photos on the cache page or in my own log of the event!
You may work individually or as a group! It is up to you! Can you find all of the items??
Why Should I Bother Finding Stuff?
I have a number of prizes I will be raffling off-- coins, trackables, containers, and more! Each item you find will earn you entries into the drawing. If you clear an entire "group", you will get a bonus 10 entries. At 11:10, we will begin drawing for the prizes! The more entries you have, the better your chances of winning. Plus, the top 5 scores will get first access to some of the "premium" prizes.
You must be present to collect your prize! To see how many entries you get, you can view the handout you will receive at the "instruction" portion of the event!
Where to Search
All of the items can be found in publicly accessible areas. The map below shows the boundaries of the area in which all of the answers/items can be found! You should not need to leave this area to find any of the items! Note that this picture is also in the cache page gallery as well as the photo album for the "Group 3" pictures, which may allow for better zooming/manipulation.
