
2025 Community Celebration Event
If you didn't already know this:
GPS Users got an Instant Upgrade
On May 2, 2000, at approximately midnight, eastern savings time, the great blue switch* controlling selective availability was pressed. Twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders, and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. Tens of thousands of GPS receivers around the world had an instant upgrade....... and the rest is history.
This event type is a specially designated community gathering held during significant milestone years in geocaching. These events allow players to celebrate around the world. This Community Celebration Events are hosted anytime in 2025 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of geocaching (see Geocaching blog post announcing these events).
