Geocache Description:

Welcome to the first CCE in the Bahamas!

About the CCE (GCATNYX)

Come join us at the Tarpum Bay Beach at 10 AM to 12 PM on July 17th for a grand meet and greet, the first CCE in the Bahamas,  and talk about some geocaching experiences with a visiting cacher (or cachers) ! The first 3 people to arrive will receive some sort of prize and an event slip. Bring trackables to exchange, visit, or to show! Make sure to bring some geocaching stories! If needed we will move the spot to a covered area…as us Washingtonians tend to wilt in the heat 😅! No purchase is required to attend this event, although snacks and drinks are close by! Make sure to take photos to attach with your log, we will do a group photo sometime during the event. Please post your will attends 48 hours in advance and update us with any information whether you are not going to be able to make it, running late, etc! Thanks for reading and hope to see you there!

About Tarpum Bay

Tarpum Bay is one of the larger settlements on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Initially named Glenelg after a British Secretary of State for War and the Colonies, the settlements name was changed to Tarpum Bay to reflect the tarpon fish that could be found there. Tarpum Bay is known for its vibrantly colored buildings and large waterside Anglican church. Local fishermen sell their catch daily at one of the two fishing docks.

Fun things to do in Tarpum Bay, Bahamas!

  • Tarpum Bay Beach Swing (at the beach the event is!): A picturesque swing set right on the beach, perfect for photos and relaxing with stunning views of the turquoise sea.

  • Fresh Fish at the Pier: Visit the Tarpum Bay pier around 3 PM to watch local fishermen unload their catch, including grouper, snapper, and conch. It's a lively, authentic experience

  • Historical Sites: Explore the ruins of the Haynes Library and the historic St. Columbine’s Anglican Church, both offering a glimpse into the island’s past

  • Ocean Hole: A natural limestone sinkhole believed to be bottomless, offering a serene spot for swimming and fish feeding

And many more!

Can't wait to cache around the island, see you there!
