It is time to celebrate our community here on the Space Coast and what better place to celebrate than in Wickham Park, where the pioneers once called it the Camelot of Geocaching. Who knows maybe one or two of those pioneers the original "Coasties" might show up for this event. We are still planning everything out for this one but we wanted to get it on the calendar so you can start making plans. You may notice this is at the same location that we have hosted many Picnic in the Park events. Well, we are actually offering camping for this event as well. We have the Youth Camp area reserved on Saturday and Sunday allowing for people to camp if they would like to. There is a $10.00 fee if you choose to camp for the night.
What will we be celebrating you ask?
- Some of the original cachers along the Space Coast
- Geocaching along the Space Coast today
- The current Geocaching community
- SCGA members that have a craft or skill they would like to share with others
- The youngsters in the Geocaching community
We have a lot of things in mind. We will have games, (if you have a game like cornhole or another outdoor game you would like bring you are more than welcome to do so). We will have the inside pavilion set up for anyone wanting to have a table to display their items whether it be art, photography, blankets, soap, geocaching birdhouses, or anything else you might want to display. There will be a trackable table to swap trackables. We will have some coins from one of the pioneers of caching on the Space Coast on display and available.
This event is all about having fun, celebrating each other and what geocaching has meant to each one of us as well as our community. Make plans today to attend. We will probably host a CITO event on Sunday as well for this event since we have to come back to the park to make sure everything is cleaned up and left in good order.
