Happy cacher-versary to me!
My first geocache was found only a few hundred metres away from this location on 23 September 2014. That cache was Kingsgrove Origin, which has sadly been archived but is still important to me because you always remember your first!
Back in 2014, it was the end of school holidays and one of my children had a friend over. They mentioned that their mum had tried this thing called geocaching. So I promptly jumped on the computer and first signed up to geocaching.com.au. Digging around a bit I realised that I also needed to be on geocaching.com. Where was my nearest geocache? Only 1.5kms away. Right kids, let's go!
This first find was not just a door opening to the activity of geocachng, but also to exploring local history more deeply. This cache referenced Hannah Laycock, who owned the property she named "King's Grove". That lead me to doing some research and placing a balancing cache at the bottom end of Hannah's property, Heavy Heart, which too is sadly archived due to renovations in the park.
