Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although their musical style has varied throughout their career. Ian Gillan is the most consistent vocalist through out their long career with hits like "Smoke on the Water" & "Down the Electrical Pole". Gillan has been in the band from 1969 until present off & on, and he inspired Gavin Rossdale, leader singer of Bush. Ian's definitely a rock star.
