SG#8 Three Ways
Decision time. Either turn left for the 9 mile run to Polskeoch Gate, or right for SG#9A Druidhall, and roads either to Sanquhar, or back to Penpont.
Look back and you will see Arkland House sitting prominently above Arkland Bridge. Great setting.

Turning left? Have you read the warning notices? If not here it is all again.
BEFORE CONTINUING THIS SERIES, PLEASE READ BELOW CAREFULLY
If you intend to attempt this whole series, please be aware that this road stretches for over 13 miles into rough, but beautiful countryside. It is a single track no through road with passing places, sometimes rough or really rough surface, and although passable with care, some stretches are quite intimidating.
Sometimes a gate may seem to prevent further progress, but can be opened and closed as you progress. The gates are to separate sheep flocks.
There are absolutely no services available, so make sure you have enough fuel, and perhaps refreshments.
If you reach Dalgonar, stop at the red barn on the left, and walk the short distance to the gate and final cache at Polskeoch Gate. There is nowhere to do a three point turn, and as it is twisty with ditches either side, reversing isn’t recommended.
You should allow time – from Polskeoch Gate back to Scaur Bridge by Penpont non-stop, taking account of the condition of the road surface, takes around 50 minutes, so stopping for caches puts this series into hours to collect. Most caches are easy to find, and are designed predominantly as “Cache & Dash” This is intended as the mission isn’t just about caches, but views, the incredible, indeed spectacular landscape, the remoteness and sheer unadulterated countryside.
