In May of 2018, my husband and I and two friends were actually the last people to walk on this section of Pohoiku Road before it was consumed by lava. We were saying goodbye to our friends' property which was located in what was formerly known as the Lanipuna Gardens Subdivision. It was really sad, but watching the volcanic apocalypse from up close was quite a rush!
