This cache is placed in an ideal location for a quick park and grab, the small hamlet of Splayne's Green just north of Fletching.
The container is inside an old red telephone box (a sight less and less common these days), which is unfortunately no longer operational.
Last year it was estimated that out of the 20,000 operational telephone boxes which still exist across the UK, only 3,000 of those are the traditional red models* (the numbers are getting gradually smaller as time goes on).
Many red boxes around this area still exist, but have been turned into other things (either defibrillators or small libraries). However, this one has been sadly left to rot, with just the red exterior shell remaining.
Please come by and show this lovely old red phone box a bit of love (it is an national icon after all).
Happy Caching!!
