This cache has been created in recognition of all the local Bushcare volunteers in this area.
Bushcare provides recreation and education opportunities for people of all ages and abilities in the local community. It is also a great way to stay fit, meet new people, and be part of something meaningful all while making a difference to our local environment.
Bushcare volunteers participate in the following activities:
- Weed control;
- Revegetation;
- Bushland, river, and creek restoration;
- Seed collection; and
- Training and workshops.

So, the removal of introduced plants and weeds is one of the biggest tasks in Bushcare volunteering to assist in protecting threatened and native plants.
Weeds are plants that don't belong where they are, which could include plants from other countries . An example of this is the "Asparagus asparagoides " classed as a non-native and considered a weed with its origins from South Africa . This introduced plant is widespread in WA,SA and Victoria. It is also spreading into NSW and Tasmania . It has the potential to spread further and increase its density in all southern staes.
The bottom line is we need to pull out the Non Native/weeds and find the Australian natives
