I hope you are enjoying your walk, run or bike ride along the Willamette River. Isn't it beautiful! Opposite the river is a natural park area called Rasor Park. Years ago, the city wanted to build an indoor soccer arena here but neighbors in the area got together and fought it. So instead of looking at a warehouse-type building with an asphalt parking lot you are looking at an area that the community is working to restore to its former glory; nurturing milkweed and other native plants to encourage pollinators and wildlife. You are likely to see a variety of birds flying by.
Rasor Park is a 10-acre City of Eugene Park. It is critical riparian habitat for wildlife and all of us. A unique place to find nature in the city and a precious remnant of open space that shows us the native oak and pine savanna that once covered large parts of the Willamette Valley.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your walk.
High muggle area so please be stealthy. :)
